Here is some info about the writer: Frances Ridley Havergal (1836-1879)
was an extraordinary woman. The daughter and sister of Anglican
clergyman, she dedicated her life to her faith – committing all of the
New Testament and much of the Old to memory, and learning Latin, Hebrew,
and Greek to aid her understanding. From her depth of scriptural
knowledge and intense personal faith, she wrote hymns that were both
inspiring and firmly rooted in God’s word. Other hymns besides Take my life and let it be – she wrote: Who is on Lord’s side?; Like a River Glorious; I am trysting Thee, Lord Jesus
